The Challenge

This case study applies to many of our clients in the payments space. The online gambling industry is currently being subjected to major change and it is understanding the changes that are driven, in our opinion, by taxation that will differentiate PSP’s and operators. The new changes focus around a requirement that local licenses are needed to operate in the majority of jurisdictions, meaning, for any operator without a local license (ie licenses from Malta, Isle of Man, Curacao which historically covered the majority of jurisdictions within the EU) is unable to trade in other jurisdictions.
